According to an internal memo viewed by The Information, Meta is developing an AI-powered pendant that it plans to begin testing within the next year. The device builds on the work of Limitless, an AI device startup Meta acquired at the end of 2025. Limitless made an AI pendant that users could attach to their shirt or wear as a necklace to record conversations. Earlier AI wearables have struggled with consumer adoption due to privacy concerns, tone-deaf marketing, and limited usefulness. The memo also reportedly states Meta is planning to expand its AI glasses lineup and launch a business subscription called "Wearables for Work." With these planned devices, Meta hopes to reverse the fortunes of its Reality Labs division, which lost $4 billion in Q1 2026. The pendant represents Meta's continued push into ambient AI hardware, though the category has struggled with both technical and consumer acceptance challenges.
